      The signal that is created is a sine with an amplitude of 1. The scale is used to get the amplitude of interest: in this case 300.

    If we have 2 steps in a job, the first step is static, general and the second one is static, Riks. how can we apply imperfection for only the second step? Thank you for your helping!

      It is not possible to include geometric imperfections only during the second step of the analysis. If it would be possible, the geometry would suddenly change during the analysis, which does not make sense. You can either have imperfections during both steps, or have two analysis: one without imperfections for the first step, and a second one with imperfections for the second step.

      @@Simuleon I have tried running the first job was static, general and them import the deformed shape with initial state to the second job (static, Riks) but we cannot apply both imperfection code and importing in the same job. Do you have any experiences in this problem?

      @@CuongNguyen-tt4jp I do not have any experience with this problem, and do not see why you would want to change the geometry by adding imperfections during a process. If you still want to do this, you could try is to create a separate analysis with the imperfections (no load) and import that geometry as an orphan mesh. Then apply the import conditions to this geometry. I haven’t tried this and don’t know whether it works, but it may be worth a shot.

      @@Simuleon Thank you for replying me! I wonder how can we run a job with only imperfection in ABAQUS? Could you tell me any way to do it? Can we apply a load with amplitude is zero and using the imperfection code to run it.

      @@CuongNguyen-tt4jp Yes, this is possible, though you won’t see much in an analysis without loading. I am wondering whether you understand what the imperfections option does. Imperfections slightly modify the geometry, so that it is less perfect and will e.g. buckle more easily. Typically this is used while a load is applied, to avoid unrealistically stiff behaviour.

      It looks like nothing. The soil moves left/right and the movement increases from the bottom. I assume it is excited from the bottom and swings without consideration of dampers. (my best guess)

    (At 6:40) Is the Brownmiller result on the left, (high stress at the center crack bottom) from FeSafe? and comparing the Right side one, showing top area in red? Oh, I see. (at 3:34) Source File is "uni stress" and the Output file is "Brownmiller" Was there a number of loading repetitions? At 1:55, I saw a loading signal is generated as a Sign graph for 1sec. But it seems one-time loading.

    In Abaqus 6.14 we only had option of edge to surface contact in general contact option on specifically selecting edges. Do we have edge to surface feature added in the surface to surface contact feature???

    Edge to surface contact was available only in general contact !! You know how time consuming it can be if we use general contact. So in this 2017 version do we have an option of providing edge to surface contact (in shell elements) like we had for surface to surface !!
